Politics, what to write?
Ok, tomorrow's sort of the big day and kinda looking forward to it...For a start, we got a briefing about the Nias project this afternoon and actually I asked a couple of questions... After the class, I was thinking "Did I ask too many questions just now?" Well, I can't change the past can I? And besides, if I care about what everyone thinks, I'll be full of pressure, trying to act how other people want me to be. Point is, just be myself and besides, just now was an important source for our project.
About the political part, I still can't figure it out. Should I write on Indonesia politics or just Nias politics? I know I'm suppose to write specifically about Nias politics but Nias is a part of Indonesia right and besides, there's nothing interesting about Nias politics unless the reader wants to read on stuff like which minister visited the damaged areas and stuff, which minister shovelled 'the first soil' into the burial grounds. Kinda boring stuff don't you think? Get a life man!!!
I've asked my Indonesian friends and they say that it's quite hard to report about politics in Nias because basically Nias is a quiet town.
What can I do about the political aspect? Well, if i want to, I can write about corruption and link it to politics going on in Nias. Afterall, what is being reported is just the tip of the iceberg. I was a little surprised when I first heard how much corrupted officials can earn in a day in the Nias region. So how? I don't know
Or I can be evil and fabricate some stories and mix it with some truths. haha. After all, the reports relating to politics are mostly in bahasa. Which reminds me of ITLG, ethics... so ethically, I should not. Well, that was just a passing thought after all so don't worry Mrs Tang.
