2nd session
Here I am to post my reflection about my 2nd session experience...Well, at least the clip about the tsunami went well because there were a few of them who empathize with the tsunami victims. One of them would be my buddy who wrote in his reflection that "the clip is very touching". At least our objective of getting them to emphatize with the tsunami victims is accomplished
As for the windows movie maker, it was also considered a success though it was a bit chaotic. Well, at least we know that they are interested in the movie maker, at least interested enough to ask their buddies.
During the assessment time for movie maker, I can see that though some of them are interested, they just do not want to do their work but instead, watch their friends.
During my session in which IT ethics was being taught, I found it hard because they were giving me blank looks at some point in time which reminds me of our learning journey in NP. Some of us are also quite 'lost' in certain lectures but just want the lecture to end fast so we say we understand. This situation is being faced by me in the morning...
During our debrief, we addressed the issue of having lectures. I feel that it is important because by addressing this issue, we have nailed the spot. One of the boys have told me that most of them would like more hands on work than lecture. Of course, if i were in their shoes, I'ld rather do something hands on for 8 mins. than to have a 20 mins. lecture because it is through doing hands on work that the skill is being 'imprinted' in our brain.
In summary, I can say that the way they respond and all is as good as any students in any class, which leads me to think... These people have done something wrong and were caught by the law but there are still those who do wrong things but are not caught by law. I'm glad to have this group of students who are understanding. Though we did not know some of the answers to their questions, they readily forgave us when we apologise
